I-10 Corridor Express Lanes – Phase 1

The I-10 Corridor is a critical link within the Inland Empire serving local, commuter, and interstate travelers. It also serves as a major trucking route between Southern California and the rest of the country. The project consists of 11 miles of dual express lanes in each direction of I-10 from the Los Angeles/San Bernardino County line to east of the I-10/I-15 interchange. The project includes highway widening, partial pavement rehab, bridge work, drainage and utilities.

As a subconsultant, V&A led the utility design effort on the project. This included; preparation of over 25 water and sewer relocation design packages, review of over 50 dry utility designs prepared by the agencies, preparation of Utility Composite sheets to Caltrans Standards, supported SBCTA in preparation of the utility encroachment permit applications, utility coordination in support of the Contractor, and overall utility coordination with all other disciplines to support the project. Utility Designs were coordinated with the following agencies; City of Ontario, Monte Vista Water District, Metropolitan Water District, City of Montclair, Inland Empire Utilities Agency and San Antonio Water Company. Dry utility design review was conducted for the following agencies; AT&T, Charter Communications, Frontier, Level 3 Communications, Southern California Edison, Southern California Gas Company, Crown Castle and Verizon.
