Regional Connector Transit Corridor

The Regional Connector Transit Corridor Project created three new underground stations that connect the Metro A (Blue), E (Expo), B (Red), and D (Purple) Lines at the 7th Street/Metro Center Station. This will provide Metro Transit Riders the opportunity to ride through Downtown Los Angeles without transfers, saving them valuable time. V&A was a major sub-consultant to Skanska on this 1.9-mile light-rail tunnel project extending from the Metro East Side Gold Line Station in Little Tokyo to the 7th St Metro Station in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles. The project consisted of a temporary shoofly connecting to the existing East Side Extension LRT and a new tunnel line connecting to the 7th/Metro Station mentioned above.

V&A led the design of all roadway restoration, signal design and coordinated all civil design disciplines within the scope of the project. Traffic Signal plans for 1st St, Howitt St and Alameda St affected by the shoofly connecting the existing Eastside tracks on 1st St leading the Little Tokyo Station. Civil disciplines included roadway, traffic, signing/stripping, lighting, drainage, overhead power, water and worksite traffic control. Restoration was divided into Segments A and B were design to 100% PS&E level while requiring coordination efforts with LADOT, LABOE and Metro.
